Mathew Puthumana , the parish priest of St. Antony’s Church, Chengalam , Mr. Mohan Abraham, Registrar of Film Institute Thekkumthgala, Mr. Jose Antony Mappilathazhe,  dear fathers, sisters & our esteemed parents to  the school report Reminiscences 2017-18.A glimpse of our endeavors, achievements, victories & aspirations, keeping in sink with the tradition of excellence & pride this institution is being nurtured under the  guidance of  Sr. Flevy  Principal, Rev. Sr. Tessy, the manager, Rev. Sr. Bency, the vice Principal.Guided by the Seraphinian way of education, our mission is to make this school an agent of change & transformation by trading the young minds to be spiritually rooted, emotionally balanced, intellectually competent and responsible citizens imbued with noble values. The prowling campus of Sacred Heart with its great infrastructure and facilities offer the students a conducive environment to woo their skills, explore their potential, sharpen their communication skill and refine artistic skill through a mediate of activities. At Sacred Heart, learning is like exploring thousands of words. Learning is like having fun, learning like exploring the ocean because the deeper you go the more you see. Learning is like putting on a light after being in the dark; Learning is like a stream running forever.We strive to groom our students into whole rounded personalities. We look back with pride on the year 2016-17 a year in which sufficient progress being made in striving for excellence in education. The result of class X being 100% was just outstanding and out of 56 students 13 of them secured A1 in all subjects. They worked  beyond their ability to make this school one of the best in Kottayam.Keeping the spirit of a lifelong learner, our school attempts to provide certain strategies and mentor the children to participate in a variety of intra and interclass activities and inter school competitions. They also participate in scholarship exams like SSAT, DCL, MEC, International handwriting Olympiad, Best out of waste, dance competition; Essay writing, Quiz competitions etc.Our students have excelled in clinging medals and cash prizes. Orientation programmes are conducted at regular intervals at the school level for the students, teachers as well as parents to provide the right ethical menu conductive to all round development of the students.The school conducts examinations for classes 1 to XII according to CBSE pattern. In addition to this regular class tests are conducted to assess the leaning standard of the students and give remedial classes for the slow learners.The new academic session was opened by seeking the blessing of God Almighty. The sparkling of the new academic session is a visual treat when tiny little angels of LKG took their steps towards excellence and were welcomed into the Sacred Heart family whole heartedly. Environment day was observed on 5th June.  Students were encouraged to plant saplings and bring relief to ailing earth.With proud we can say our school is getting satisfactory support from the strongest element to drive this institution, that is, the parents. Our school has active and vibrant PTA which helps the school in all needs. Annual general body meeting of PTA was held on 1st July 2017. New PTA executive committee was elected headed by Mr. Tomy  Jose Kannimankunnel  for the support and smooth functioning of the school.The school cabinet is an integral part of school. The school motivates students for leadership and sharing responsibilities. We have a democratic school parliament election process to choose the responsible leaders to guide and help the students to maintain sanctity and uphold the dignity of the united family of the Sacred Heart School. Richu Joseph was elected as the Head Boy, Achu Theresa Head Girl, Mons Kurian Asst. Head Boy and Aksa Asst. Head girl. A week long competitions and programmes were organized on account of the reading week.Celebrations commemorate special days and all special days in the premises are celebrated with great gusto and fervor as one large family. Students and teachers were divided into four houses and various competitions were held like patriotic song, Quiz, speech, declamation, drawing, fancy dress, and tableau, thiruvathira, nadan pattu, badminton, foot ball, bulletin board etc.Azadi 71, yad karo Khurbani – the independence day was celebrated to salute the martyrs who gave us our Freedom. Principal in her address urged the students to stand and act in unison to take the nation forward on the path of development.Students need the platform to boost up their talents and of course our institution is always keen to set up the same. The school youth festival and Sahodaya youth festival imparts an eminent opportunity to excel the artistic talents of the students. The participants have secured 2nd and 3rd positions and A grade for various items.As  Keralite, onam celebration is an unavoidable part of us. The day’s celebration in the school filled the young minds with joy. To celebrate the innocence and beauty of our dear children, children’s day was made funfilled by organizing a fun and frolic fete in the school.Sports day is an exercise in coordination and display of skill and colour whether it is crossing barrier or traditional dances of India. The message students carry back home is that everyone is a winner. Our students are provided proper sports arena where their basest instincts gets consumed, in competitive spirit. Our students participated in CBSE cluster in football & Badminton tournament conducted at Kottayam sahodaya level. In badminton tournament Helena Tom of Class X secured second position in the girl’s singles. We felicitate our meritorious students and their proud parents.For the heartians sharing and caring is always the essence of Christmas. The scene of Nativity and melodious carol singing are always the highlight of the occasion. Long live our country, long live the public is the message that heartians carry home every year on the republic day.It has been an endeavour of the school to provide the students ample opportunities to get an experience of the outside world by organizing educational trips and excursions to interesting places.  Great satisfaction comes from sharing with others. This virtue of sharing is instilled in the little heartians to the core. We train our students through their valuable contribution  by   visiting   old   age  homes   &   orphanages  of   mentally challenged children. We provide lunch on every 4th Wednesday of the month to Lourde Bhawan at Pallickathodu. This year our students have contributed Rs.25,000 for the medical expenses of Mr.Roy Kavumkal.Different clubs play a major role which brings the hidden talents and skills of the students. We have the clubs like Language, Eco, peace, Health and Eureka. These clubs are eagerly working for the development, change and showing compassion to the society. We conduct hobby classes like skating, Key board, Music, Art, Kung fu, Yoga, Dance & Games. Every student participates in one or the other hobby to stabilize their body & mind.We have the regular morning school assembly, which we consider as the integral part of student’s discipline. All our efforts are fulfilled only with the grace of the Almighty God. To ensure the showers of blessings, we are keen to ensure the Holy mass for the students on all the first Tuesdays of the month. Our institution is always eager to ensure the glorious future of our students in this competitive world. As a part of it we introduced Civil Service Basic Foundation Coaching in our school.  We have a strong team of dedicated sisters, teaching staff and non teaching staff who are passionate about their profession as they inspire, ignite the imagination and instill a love for learning. Today’s EXTRAVAGANZA, which you are watching amply reflect the hard labour invested by each sister and every member of the staff. I congratulate them for their absolute devotion & dedication for their innovative ideas.Gratitude is not only greatest virtue but the parent of all others. I take this opportunity to thank Mr.Siby Joseph Kandathil for sponsoring required prizes for classes LKG to IV for this academic session.  I express my sincere thanks to you dear parents for your whole hearted support and timely help. I am grateful to the management, the members of the staff, and supportive staff for the cooperation given in providing a uniform platform to our students so that they make a name and place for themselves in the society. I am thankful to our dear Rev. Fr. Mathew Puthumana, Mr.Mohan Abraham, Mr. Jose Antony Mappilathazhe, dear fathers and sisters for sparing your valuable time to be with us and gracing this evening.
